Ellen was born in 1852 to William & Susan Rue in Huish Episcopi.  She had 3 elder sisters, although Caroline born in 1851 died soon after
in 1854.

In the 1861 census of Huish Episcopi we see Ellen, aged 9, a “glover leather” with her parents and two elder sisters, Jane and Sarah.

In the 1871 census Ellen was living in the Pitney household of a 75 year old dairy woman widow, Constant Salmon.  Ellen was aged 18 a general
servant and also in the household was Constant’s son and grandson.

On 29th September1873 in Pitney, the illegitamate son of Ellen was baptised, Thomas.  We have nothing to show who the father may have been.
Thomas appears to have been raised by his maternal grandmother, Susan.  He kept the Rue name, living with Susan in 1881 and 1891.

We have no record of Ellen after his birth at all.  It is assumed that she marries but we cant find evidence of this.
