Emma Ann Rue was baptised on 25th August 1889 in Llanharry, Glamorgan.  She was born in Llansannor to Walter Rue and Jane nee Pole, being their first child.

I believe from the family that she was known as Emmy rather than Emma.

Her parents gave her 5 younger brothers, Arthur in 1890, George in 1892, Albert in 1893 and twins Walter and Wallace in 1895, although her youngest brother Wallace died within the first month of life.

Emma’s father, Walter died following a mining accident in 1895.  He was just 28.  Emma would have been only 5 years old.

Her mother went on to marry and have children with Thomas Edwards.  Emma and her Rue brothers were raised by Thomas Edwards with their mother, however they kept their Rue name.

Emma had 2 half sisters and 3 half brothers who were all Edwards.

It does seem that following the death of Walter, the family moved around a lot in the late 1890’s and the 1900’s never settling at any address for long.  Moving from Llanharry to the Neath area and then to Swansea and back to Crynant in Neath.

Emma Ann Rue married Charles Tripp in 1910 in Neath.

Census returns show Emma as a 1 year old living with her parents and 1 brother in Ty Nant, Llanharry in 1891.  As a 12 year old with her step father and mother 6 brothers and 1 sister in St Michael near Neath in 1901 and in 1911 she was still living with Thomas & Jane but was already married, she was 23 and had with her a daughter, Nellie who was born late in 1910.  I do not know where her husband is at this time.

It is possible that Emma and Charles then had Violet M born in 1911, and almost certainly had Albert C and Frederick in 1914, Sam W in 1917, Charlotte J in 1919 and another Frederick in 1929.  The youngest Frederick born in 1914 also died in 1914.

I do not know anything further about this family.
