Gwendoline Baker was a 30 year old spinster living in Moortown, Curry Rivel, Somerset when on 2nd December 1930 she married the 57 year old widow, Tom Rue in St Andrews Church, Curry Rivel.

Tom was a farm labourer from nearby Pitney who’s previous wife had died in early 1929.  They had had no children as far as I could see.

I have not spent long loooking into Gwendolines background, although I do know from her marriage certificate that her father had been Harry Baker, a railway linesman who was deceased by 1930.
One of the witnesses at Gwendolines marriage to Tom was Clifford Baker, who amy have been a brother?

Tom and Gwendoline had a son in 1934.

Gwendoline died in early 1937 aged just 35 in Taunton.

Tom died in early 1951 aged 77 in or around Yeovil.

I have had a lovely letter from their son, who is not represented on this website for confidentiality reasons, and he advises that when his mother died, he was placed in a childrens home.  He knows little about either of his parents.
