Walter Joseph Rue was born on 5th Setember 1895 and was baptised in Llangan Church on 13th October 1895. His parents were Edward Rue (a general labourer) and Mary nee Jenkins.
It seems sure to me that he was named after two of his uncles, Edwards brothers, Walter who tragically died following a mining accident in July 1895, and Joseph who had died aged just 14 back in 1884.
Edward had certainly been close to his brother Walter having moved from Somerset to South Wales together in the 1880’s.
At his birth Walter Joseph and his family were living in Tewgoed, Penllyn.
He had one oler brother, Thomas and an older sister, Margaret. His parents had also previously lost 2 sons and 1 daughter in infancy.
Walter Joseph also died within a matter of days of his birth, his burial taking place in Llangan Church on 18th October 1895.
His parents went on to have one further son in 1897, he didn’t make childhood either.
