Kenneth J Rue was born in 1929 in Neath. I do not have his date of birth or what the J stood for although should be able to find out.
He was the 7th child born to Albert Rue and Dolly (christened Charlotte Matilda) nee Hiscox, having 4 older sisters and 2 older brothers. He was the baby of the family his parents having no further children after him.
He was “institutionalised” at some point early in his life after contracting Tuberculosis (TB) a potentially life threatening disease, however he did make a full recovery and was reunited with his family.
Ken lived his life at Brith Dir Farm in Skewen near Neath where he lived with his parents and his eldest sister Vi. Neither of them married or had children but they ran the farm together.
Towards the end of his life Ken had a partner, Sarah Lewis (known as Sally), although I believe that they never married. She had adult children although I don’t know if she was widowed or divorced. It would appear that she died just before Ken, although I know very little about her.
I personally have very fond memories of Ken. The whole extented family used to meet up at the farm in Drummau at Christmas in the 1970’s.
I have photos of Ken which I will upload shortly.
Ken died on 11th January 2007, still living in Brith Dir Farm, Drummau, Skewen. His sister, Vi had earlier gone into a nursing home, and it is believed that the farm and all the history within was passed to Sallys family in Bridgend.
