Oliver Rue was born on 17 January 1916 in the Neath area (probably Crynant).  His parents were George Rue and Elizabeth nee Palin – he had an older brother Alfred who was 4 years older than him.

Oliver married Mary Eileen G Davies early in 1952 in the Neath area.  I have no records of any children being born to the couple.

I believe they lived in the Crynant area of Neath and have found Oliver listed on the Crynant Rugby Club website as a past captain of the team – in 1947/48.

I have also found him on a site detailing mining accidents – apparently he was a blacksmith working in Dillwyn Colliery for the National Coal Board when he encountered an accident on 12th June 1949 – he was aged 32 and “was carrying out electrical welding in wishbone and hand came in contact with cable connecting welder to sub-station – electric shock”.

It would appear that his wife, Mary Eileen G Rue died in June 1996 and Oliver died in February 2000, both still in the Neath district.
