Walter Mervyn Rue was born in 1922 in Neath, South Wales. He was the 5th child born to Albert and Dolly Rue having 2 brothers and 4 sisters. As with many of his siblings he was always known by his middle name – Merv.
In 1952 Merv married Cicily Dunn in St John’s Church in Skewen near Neath and they went on to have 3 sons – in 1953, 1955 and 1958.
Merv worked as a coal miner for 30 years, working in the Cefn Coed colliery in the Neath Valley.
I believe that Merv always lived in the Neath and Skewen area.
Merv died peacefully at home on 1st March 2007.
